April 27: Global Music Hour features 'Caribbean steel'
Be transported to the islands by renowned artist Ray Holman
11:41 a.m., April 5, 2011--The University of Delaware campus community is invited to bring lunch and enjoy a noontime performance at the Institute for Global Studies at Elliott Hall on Wednesday, April 27.
Ray Holman, a renowned artist from Trinidad and Tobago, will transport visitors to the islands with his Caribbean steel pan music at the next Global Music Hour at UD’s Institute for Global Studies (IGS).

The presentation starts at noon in the foyer of the IGS, which is located in Elliott Hall. It is the latest performance in the Global Music Hour/Brown Bag Lunch Series sponsored by the IGS.
Regarded as a “steel pan legend,” Holman has arranged and recorded with steel bands and artists in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Japan and Europe, including televised performances with the German National Orchestra. He has been a featured performer in film, television and at venues such as Madison Square Garden, the Super Bowl and the St. Lucia Jazz Festival.
Holman also will be on campus for the third annual Delaware Steel festival, performing at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 30, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E du Pont Music Building. For details on that performance, see the UDaily article.
