- Set up your modem:
Before you begin following our instructions, make sure your modem is set up and working properly. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.- Instructions:
Read and review the directions that pertain to your computer's operating system before proceeding. You could also print the instructions (if your computer is connected to a printer). Some Windows computers may require you to have your Windows operating system CD handy.
- Activate your account:
In order to set up and use a PPP connection, you must have an active UDelNet account. That is, you must know both the UDelNet ID and password that allow you access to the University's network (and to Copland, Strauss, mail.udel.edu, or the University's other central servers). You must set up your UDelNet ID and password before you set up your PPP connection. You can do that by accessing The Network Page (http://www.udel.edu/network) from any University computing site--or from any other computer with Internet access.
Access to our network via a PPP connection is usually available a few hours after you have created your UDelNet ID or you have set or changed your UDelNet account's password.
