Students from Kobe Shoin Women's University

Professor Akito Miyamoto, director of international studies at Kobe Shoin Women’s University in Kobe, Japan, enthusiastically expressed his excitement for his university’s study abroad programs as it embarks on the 18th year of the UD exchange. In addition to the 14 students in the four-week study program coordinated by Janet Louise, eight more took part in the semester abroad program coordinated by Kathy Hankins. All of these students enjoyed living with homestay families. In addition to Professor Miyamoto, students in the four-week program were also accompanied by Professor Taisuke Nishigauchi, who joined the group as they met “Ben Franklin” in Philadelphia, braved Hurricane Gustav to see theWhite House inWashington, D.C., and met a Broadway starlet after attending a Broadway show in New York. In Newark they shared their culture with youngsters at UD’s Early Learning Center and met with senior citizens.
