James Corbett, associate professor of marine and earth studies, was quoted in a Dec. 3 article in The New York Times concerning efforts by ports in Southern California to curb emissions from shipping.

Meryl Gardner, associate professor of business administration, was quoted in a Dec. 3 News Journal story about food in the workplace. "When we eat together, we are somehow making peace," Gardner said. "Food is something you bond over. We're suspicious of people who won't eat with us."

Peter Weil, associate professor of anthropology, was quoted in a Dec. 2 News Journal story about holiday traditions. "We're involved in a rapidly changing society and traditions give us anchors. They give us some control over these things,” Weil said.

Jean Pfaelzer, professor of English, was recognized on The New York Times list of “100 Notable Books of 2007” for her nonfiction work, Driven Out: The Forgotten War Against Chinese Americans. The list will appear in the Dec. 2 print edition of the Times Book Review.

Linda Gottfredson, professor of education, was quoted in a Dec. 1 article in The New York Times concerning the issue of IQ and race.

Douglas Miller, associate professor of marine and earth studies, was quoted in a Nov. 27 News Journal story about handwritten records maintained by William H. Amos about the life of the Delaware Bay and the Delaware River. The records provide “a snapshot of the Delaware Bay from the 1950s,” Miller said.

Louis Hirsh, director of admissions, was quoted in a Nov. 25 Trenton Times story about the admissions process following a panel presentation in Princeton Township.

Jeremy Firestone, associate professor of marine and earth studies, was cited in a Nov. 24 News Journal story about negotiations between Bluewater Wind and Delmarva Power concerning efforts to bring wind power to the Delaware coast.

Willett Kempton, associate professor of marine and earth studies, was quoted in a Nov. 23 News Journal story about his development of an electric-powered car that can return energy to the grid.

Roberta Michnick Golinkoff, H. Rodney Sharp Chair in Human Services, Education and Public Policy, was quoted in a Nov. 21 Time Magazine story about parents who get tutors for the toddlers.

Lesa Griffiths, director of the Center for International Studies, was quoted in a Nov. 19 State Department USINFO story about award-winning models for international education. UD was cited along with George Mason University.

Ismat Shah, professor of materials science and engineering, was quoted in a Nov. 17 News Journal story about political unrest in Pakistan.

UD gets a mention in the October issue of Campus Technology, in the CT Online section, for use of clickers in the classroom.
