Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in an April 1 News Journal story about the proposed federal financial system regulatory changes and in a March 31 Financial Week story about the Bear Stearns board. Elson also was quoted in a March 27 Kansas City Star story about ousted payments to the ousted Sprint Nextel chief executive officer, a March 19 Associated Press story about Barington Capital Group and the Dillard's department store chain board, a March 18 Daily Deal story about possible Bear Stearns litigation, a March 18 Wall Street Journal story about a dissident shareholder group's battle with New York Times Co., a March 17 BusinessWeek story about Microsoft and its interest in Yahoo, and a March 15 Associated Press story about the continuing importance of financial reforms instituted by Eliot Spitzer prior to his fall.

Judith Provencal, assistant professor of physics and astronomy, was quoted in a widely distributed March 28 McClatchy-Tribune story about white dwarf stars. “Someday the sun will be a white dwarf,” she said. “It's forming the white dwarf in its core right now.” Provencal is coordinating some of the world's largest telescopes in a five-week-long international observing run, focusing on a white dwarf in the constellation Virgo. The story also was reported by the online magazines Innovations Report in Germany, Space Daily and Science Daily.

Fred DeMicco, ARAMARK Chair of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management, was quoted by The Deep, a science and technology radio show and column, about the future of space travel. “In the 21st century, space tourism could represent the most significant development experienced by the tourism industry.”

The Delaware Assistive Technology Initiative in the Center for Applied Science and Engineering was featured in a March 26 WHYY-TV Delaware Tonight segment.

Jeremy Firestone, associate professor of marine and earth studies, was quoted in a March 26 News Journal story about wind power and the Delaware Electric Cooperative.

Nancy Targett, dean of the College of Marine and Earth Studies, was featured in a March 24 WHYY-TV Delaware Tonight segment on plans by the college to consider wind power for the Hugh R. Sharp Campus in Lewes.

Marvin Zuckerman, professor emeritus of psychology, was quoted in a March 24 Time Magazine story about risk taking, in the wake of the resignation of Eliot Spitzer as governor of New York.

Arica Coleman, assistant professor of Black American Studies, was quoted in a March 24 Washington Post story about race and gender issues in the battle for the Democratic presidential nomination between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Dewey Caron, professor of entomology and wildlife ecology, was quoted in a March 24 Press of Atlantic City story about the revival of New Jersey bee colonies following last year's collapse.

Troy O'Neal, a UD graduate and former Fightin' Blue Hens baseball player, was featured in a March 24 News Journal column by Kevin Noonan. O'Neal has his own wooden baseball bat company, called Bullybats.

Ben Yagoda, professor of English, wrote a commentary in the March 21 Chronicle of Higher Education about student internships and affordability.

Cihan Cobanoglu, associate professor of hotel, restaurant and institutional mangement, was interviewed as part of a March 20 WCAU-TV Channel 10 news segment on the experimental room at the Courtyard Newark-University of Delaware hotel on campus.

LaVerne Terry, who earned a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education and a doctorate in educational leadership from UD, was featured in a story in the March 19 Virgin Islands Daily News after being elected commissioner of the Virgin Islands Department of Education.

Robin Miller, a UD graduate and former women's lacrosse captain, was featured in a March 19 News Journal story about her Food Network show Quick Fix Meals with Robin Miller.

Kenneth Lewis, Chaplin Tyler Professor of Economics, was quoted in a March 18 News Journal story about the state's anticipated 2008 budget shortfall. Lewis serves on the Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Council.

Burton Abrams, professor of economics, and James Butkiewicz, professor of economics, were quoted in a March 18 News Journal story about the collapse of Bear Stearns. Abrams also was quoted that day in a sidebar story about Wilmington Trust.

Douglas Tallamy, chairperson of the Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology, was quoted in a March 17 Associated Press story about beneficial insects in the garden.

Deanna Pedicone, project coordinator in the Center for Disability Studies, was featured in a March 13 WHYY-TV Delaware Tonight segment on employment for people with disabilities.
