Collegiate planning conference at UD March 25-27

3:15 p.m., March 21, 2007--The Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) will hold its Mid-Atlantic regional conference from March 25-27 on the University of Delaware's Newark campus. The conference will consist of a series of focused discussions on reasons for and drivers of significant institutional improvement and change.

Presentations will explore the background stories of planning, the contexts in which strategic plans are created and how their outcomes are assessed. They also will include invited stories that tell the circumstances that led to change, the processes, mechanisms and forces that shaped plans and decisions and their intended and unintended results.

The conference agenda includes discussions of integrated institutional planning and responses within the contexts of the key forces that brought them about. Factors such as demographic shifts, political forces, market forces, economic change, accreditation issues, academic trends, changes in key personnel and natural disasters are among the causes of college and university change.

Established in 1965, SCUP is a collegial community dedicated to sharing, learning and teaching best practices in planning for colleges and universities. The organization embraces the full spectrum of planning functions at postsecondary institutions, including academics, campus or master facilities, budgeting and financial resources, infrastructure and strategic planning.
