Public Safety phone lines out; 911 to NPD

2:58 p.m., March 19, 2007--Telephone lines serving the University of Delaware Department of Public Safety are not working and 911 emergency calls on campus are being forwarded instead to the Newark Police Department.

The only Public Safety telephone line working as of Monday afternoon, March 19, is (302) 831-2222.

The campus community is being covered on the 911 system, with calls to Public Safety being routed instead to the Newark Police.

Telephone technicians are working on the problem, and full phone service should be restored sometime this afternoon.
