Junior heads to L.A. to compete in Miss USA contest

Junior Nicole Bosso

4:57 p.m., March 14, 2007--UD junior Nicole Bosso, who was crowned Miss Delaware USA in November, left Newark on March 7 to compete for the title of Miss USA on March 23 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. The Miss USA pageant, sponsored by Donald J. Trump and NBC Universal, will be broadcast live on NBC television.

There will be 51 women, representing each state and the District of Columbia and competing in three categories--personal interview, evening gown and swimsuit.

A graduate of St. Mark's High School, Bosso is majoring in communications and said she wants to work in communications or public relations. She said she enjoys traveling, photography and is an accomplished athlete and dancer.

A volunteer for many community organizations, including Read-Aloud Delaware, Goodwill Industries, the Blue-Gold Committee, the Delaware Humane Society and SPCA, Bosso, as Miss Delaware USA, has served as a goodwill ambassador, assisting community organizations and charities to raise awareness and funds. In addition, she has spoken to groups to raise awareness of breast and ovarian cancer, the official cause of the National Miss USA organization.
