Junior chosen Miss Delaware USA
4:44 p.m., Dec. 5, 2006--Junior Nicole Bosso was officially crowned Miss Delaware USA on Nov. 26 at the Dover Sheraton Hotel, selected from more than 30 contestants. The tension grew as other winners were announced, leading up to the announcement of Miss Delaware USA. “Much to my surprise and joy, I won the title of Miss Delaware USA. It was a memorable moment that flashed before my eyes. I was completely shocked and happy!” Bosso recalled. “It was all my decision and doing to enter the Miss Delaware USA pageant,” she said. “A friend who had taken part in pageants suggested I might enjoy participating so I applied through the Miss USA Pageant web site. “My mother wasn't urging me to compete, but she and my father were both in tears when I went backstage after being crowned. Now that I have won, I have a large support group to help me during the next year.”
One of her treasured prizes is a gold ring that is an exact replica of Miss Delaware USA crown, she said, adding that she is looking forward to a week in Jamaica and a year of sessions at a spa. But what matters most, Bosso said, is the opportunity to take part in the Miss USA Pageant next spring. Bosso, who graduated from St. Mark's High School, said she has enjoyed her courses and study at UD and that her professors always have time to respond to her e-mails and concerns. She also likes sharing an apartment near downtown Newark. As for the future, Bosso, who is a communications major, is leaning toward law school or a possible career in advertising. “I have been taking core courses in communications and as I get into the advanced courses I'll have a better idea of what I want to do,” she said. But for now, Bosso is on the threshold of a whirlwind year as Miss Delaware USA. The climax will be the Miss USA Pageant, sponsored by Donald J. Trump and NBC Universal, this spring, time and place to be announced. In the meantime, Bosso will be making personal appearances at charitable and community events, beginning with holiday parades in Claymont and Elsmere. Article by Sue Moncure
