Police investigate April 14 robbery

9:56 a.m., April 16, 2007--Newark Police are investigating the strong-arm robbery of a 21-year-old woman that occurred around 7:38 p.m., Saturday, April 14, at East Main Street and Center Street.

The woman was walking east on Main Street when a woman ran up behind her and grabbed her purse from her shoulder. The suspect ran westward on Main Street and handed the purse to a man. The victim pursued the suspects and became involved in a physical altercation with the man. Ultimately, she was able to recover her purse and its contents. The suspects, who also included another man, fled the area on foot.

The woman sustained a bruised calf and an abrasion to her left knee. She refused medical treatment.

The suspects include a woman about 5 feet 5 inches tall with a thin build and black hair, and two men with average builds and short hair.
