UD Police report robbery on campus

11:12 a.m., April 12, 2007--University of Delaware Police are investigating a strong-arm robbery that occurred between 9:40 and 10:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, near the southern end of the Independence Bridge at the intersection of North College Avenue and Ray Street.

UD officials said a male student was assaulted and robbed by a group of six or seven men. Police said no weapons were displayed or implied.

The student suffered contusions to the back of his head and the side of his face, along with lacerations to his face, ears and lips. He was transported to the Christiana Hospital emergency room by Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Co. ambulance for treatment. The student returned to his residence early Thursday morning.

Stolen were a cell phone, car keys, a residence hall key and cash.
