Newark Police report Acme robbery attempt

1:59 p.m., April 3, 2007--Newark Police have reported an attempted strong-arm robbery that occurred at 12:03 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, at the Acme grocery store in Suburban Plaza off Elkton Road.

Police said a man walked into the store and threatened physical harm if cash was not handed over. When the victim did not hand over any money, the suspect fled from the store in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a man about 40-50 years old, about 6 feet tall and of thin build with dark hair and a mustache. He was wearing light-colored shorts and a brown jacket.
