Kimmie Meissner, a member of the UD Figure Skating Club and the 2006 U.S. Olympic Team, was featured in the Feb. 6 issue of Time magazine and the February issue of Sports Illustrated for Kids. Also, she was featured in stories in the Jan. 30 Philadelphia Inquirer and the Jan. 29 News Journal. Following a press conference on campus, she was featured Jan. 20 in stories in newspapers and on television stations throughout the region.

David Herman, Trustees Distinguished Professor of Music, was featured in a story in the February issue of Delaware Today about UD’s Jefferson Organ and Bayard Sharp Hall.

Dan Rich, University of Delaware provost, was quoted in a Feb. 3 Chronicle of Higher Education story concerning changes to college programs that were formerly race-exclusive.

John Antil, associate professor of business administration, was quoted about Super Bowl advertising in stories in the Feb. 3 Washington Times and the Feb. 1 Detroit News, and by Agence France Press.

Alex Keen, program coordinator, was quoted in a Feb. 3 News Journal story about independent films, noting that UD had recently completed its second winter independent film series.

Tim DeSchriver, assistant professor of health and exercise sciences, was quoted in a Feb. 2 Hartford Courant story about Super Bowl advertising.

Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair in Corporate Governance and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a Feb. 1 Sacramento Bee story about the California State Teachers Retirement System and in Jan. 30 stories in USA Today and New York Newsday concerning the opening of the Enron trial.

Muqtedar Khan, assistant professor of political science and international relations, wrote opinion pieces on the victory by Hamas in the Jan. 31 Haaretz and the Feb. 1 News Journal.

Jonathan Justice, assistant professor of urban affairs, was quoted in a Jan. 30 News Journal story about growth in southern New Castle County.

George Basalla, professor emeritus of history, has written a book titled Civilized Life in the Universe: Scientists on Intelligent Extraterrestrials that was reviewed in the Jan. 29 Chicago Sun-Times.

Meryl Gardner, associate professor of business administration, was quoted in a Jan. 29 Baltimore Sun story about the marketing of cartoon characters, and primarily of SpongeBob. Gardner also was quoted in a Jan. 24 New Orleans Times-Picayune story about the sale of “chocolate city” T-shirts following comments by the mayor.

YoUDee, the University of Delaware mascot, was featured in a story in the Jan. 29 News Journal.

Michael Gamel-McCormick, director of UD’s Center for Disability Studies, was quoted in a Jan. 29 News Journal story on how pre-kindergarten costs are having an impact on middle class families.

Thomas Leitch, professor of English, was featured in the Jan. 22 News Journal for his book on the Perry Mason television series.

Gary May, professor of history, wrote a review for the Jan. 22 Baltimore Sun on the Taylor Branch book At Canaan’s Edge: America in the King Years 1965-1968.

Saul Hoffman, chairperson of the Department of Economics, was quoted in a Jan. 18 News Journal story on rising wholesale prices in Delaware.

A UD School of Nursing delegation of students and faculty was featured on television and in the Cairns Post during a study abroad trip to Australia, where they were learning about the care of aboriginal people and the transport of patients from the outback.

Ben Yagoda, professor of English, wrote a piece on Dutch art for the Jan. 11 issue of Philadelphia Weekly.
