Travel alert: 273 ramp on I-95 closed Friday afternoon

5:16 p.m., Nov. 18, 2004--The westbound ramp of Route 273 from southbound I-95 will be closed from noon-2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 19, for paving operations, the Delaware Department of Transportation has announced.

Motorists will be directed to the Route 7 or the Route 896 exits off I-95 during the closing. Variable message signs will continue to provide detour and closing information as motorists approach the area. DelDOT asks motorists to use caution in the area on Friday.

DelDOT maintenance crews are working to complete paving and road rehabilitation projects before colder weather prevents them from being able to apply temperature-sensitive materials. To minimize the impact to traffic, the work on the westbound 273 ramp will be completed in the middle of the day so that the ramp will be accessible to motorists during the rush hour. Work on the eastbound 273 ramp from I-95 was done earlier this week.

For more information, visit DelDOT's web site at [www.deldot.net], or tune to WTMC-AM, 1380.
