UDWC names its Woman of the Year

3:12 p.m., May 9, 2005--Clella Murray has been named 2005 University of Delaware Women’s Club (UDWC) Woman of the Year and will be honored at a luncheon on May 11 in Clayton Hall.

In addition to her participation in UDWC, Murray has been involved with the Delaware Art Museum Council, Friends of the Newark Free Library and Newark Symphony Orchestra. She also has led children and youth programs and Girl Scout troops at the Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church.

A writer, Murray is the author of several articles and five novels.

At UD, Murray worked as a researcher in computers for the then College of Education. She has been a member of the University community for more than 40 years. While her husband, Richard, served on the physics faculty and then as provost, Murray was known for her hospitality, welcoming countless new faculty and their families to Newark.
