Awards announced by womens equity groups 3:09 p.m., May 11, 2005--The Office of Womens Affairs and UDs Commission on the Status of Women have announced several recipients of awards for spring semester. The Geis Student Research on Women Conference, cosponsored by the Womens Studies Program, was held April at UD for graduate and undergraduate students from the 12 schools of the greater Philadelphia Womens Studies Consortium. Winning presenters were Hillary Murtha, first-place graduate, College of Arts and Sciences; Terry Lilley, first-place undergraduate, College of Arts and Sciences; Laura Thompson Brady, second place graduate, College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy; Grace Patterson, second-place undergraduate, University Studies; and Alexandra Reid Hill, second-place undergraduate, Temple University. The Bessie B. Collins Award and Mae Carter Award are given annually to recognize the achievements of returning adult students. The recipients were honored at a luncheon May 4 and recognized on Honors Day, May 6. Carol E. Breeding, a senior in the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy, University of Delaware/Milford School District Professional Development School Program, received the Bessie Collins Award. Stacy Huntoon, a senior in chemical engineering, and Yvette Boyd Pratt, a senior in health, nutrition and exercise sciences, both received the Mae Carter Award. The E. Arthur Trabant Institutional Award for Womens Equity, named after the former University president and given annually to an individual, department, administrative unit or committee that has contributed to equity for women at UD, went to Eric Kaler, dean of the College of Engineering.
