Videos profile education, engineering profs

3:36 p.m., April 21, 2005--Two new installments of the Windows on The Green video series have been posted at [www.udel.edu/PR/windows/]. The short videos highlight the research and teaching of Mark Barteau of UD’s Department of Chemical Engineering and Carol Vukelich of UD’s Center for Teacher Education.

Barteau, Robert L. Pigford Chair of Chemical Engineering at UD, followed his father’s career path into engineering, and his innovative research has increased our understanding of how chemical reactions occur on solid surfaces.

Barteau, who found chemical engineering a combination of his favored subjects of math, physics and chemistry, discusses his teaching career and his research work in the video.

Vukelich, Hammonds Professor in Teacher Education and director of the Center for Teacher Education, discusses the preparation of students for the challenges of a teaching career. She also talks about her own career in teacher education. Vukelich explains how the Center for Teacher Education serves all UD departments that produce students who plan to teach.

The Windows on The Green series, produced by Information Technologies-University Media Services in collaboration with the Office of Public Relations, marks the endowment of UD’s 100th named professorship last year. An endowed chair is one of the highest honors a faculty member can receive and one of the most important gifts a donor can make to the University.
