UD to co-host hospitality conference in Jamaica

3:49 p.m., July 29, 2005--The University of Delaware and the University of Technology in Jamaica will host an international conference on hospitality and tourism management from Oct. 12-15 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The conference, “Hospitality and Tourism Driving National and International Development,” will be held in the Ritz Carlton Golf and Spa Resort, Rose Hall, Jamaica.

Researchers from around the world will explore travel and tourism development, hospitality technology, travel marketing and related issues. Jamaica’s most influential travel and tourism administrators will also participate in the conference.

The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of Technology, the premier hospitality and tourism training institution in the Caribbean, offers undergraduate degrees in food service management, hospitality and tourism management, as well as certificate programs in baking technology, pastry making and events planning and management.

UD’s Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management is one of the leading hospitality programs in the U.S. With its on-campus Vita Nova restaurant and state-of-the-art Courtyard Newark-University of Delaware hotel, UD offers undergraduate hospitality education and a graduate program in hospitality information management.

UD and the University of Technology signed an agreement in 2003 to collaborate in several areas of mutual benefit, including student and faculty exchange.
