Teachers of the Year honored

11:03 a.m., April 22, 2005--President and Mrs. David P. Roselle honored the 2005 Delaware Teachers of the Year at a reception Tuesday evening, April 19, at the president’s house, followed by dinner at the Blue & Gold Club, hosted by Timothy Barnekov, dean of the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy.

One teacher from each Delaware school district received a certificate. Kathleen H. Tomas, Caesar Rodney, who was unable to be present because she was in Washington, D.C., attending a national State Teacher of the Year ceremony with President George W. Bush, was recognized as the 2005 Delaware State Teacher of the Year.

Of the 19 Delaware Teachers of the Year, 11 had graduated or were enrolled at UD, including Cynthia Baker, Indian River; Barbara Borleske, Red Clay Consolidated; Paula Henderson, Christina; Sandra Lynn Krugh, Lake Forest; Elizabeth Morrison, Woodbridge; Shirley R. Moux, Colonial; Marilyn Neat, Laurel; Mary O’Connell, Brandywine; Amanda Parisi, Milford; Veronica Perrine, Appoquinimink; and Raymond Theilacker, New Castle County Vo-Tech.

Others honored as Teachers of the Year were John Augustus, Capital; Shauneen Guidice, Delmar; Charlene Jones, Cape Henlopen; Diane Marthaler, Smyrna; Lynne McIntosh, Polytech; Kimberly Myran, Seaford; and Sabrina Neal, Sussex Technical.
