Sarajevo business school to host world congress

11:31 a.m., July 15, 2005--The Sarajevo Graduate School of Business (SGSB), a joint venture between the University of Delaware and the University of Sarajevo, has been selected to host next year’s 15th annual World Business Congress of the International Management Development Association (IMDA), to be held June 18-21 in Sarajevo.

SGSB, which offers the only AACSB-accredited MBA program in southeast Europe, is supported by funding from USAID. IMDA is an interdisciplinary and global organization that supports research and contacts among academics, practitioners and policymakers.

SGSB Dean Milos Trifkovic said, “This is early recognition of SGSB’s international role and importance after only one year of operation. We will be working closely with our partners at the University of Delaware, the Faculty of Economics and USAID to make the next World Business Congress the best one yet.”

SGSB is currently admitting students for its second year to begin in September. SGSB students participate free of charge in all World Business Congress sessions.

“This event will be good for SGSB, for Sarajevo, and for our partners,” Trifkovic said. “We will give this Congress a special focus on business in Southeast Europe and make special efforts to encourage discussions and contacts between international business scholars and company managers,” he said.

At this year’s congress in Granada, 140 delegates from 40 countries participated in sessions and presented more than 160 papers on diverse business subjects. Antonio-Claret Garcia Garcia, president of Caja Granada, was named IMDA international businessperson of the year.

Past World Business Congresses have been held in Canada, the United States, Turkey, Finland, Korea, Bermuda, Malaysia and the Netherlands.
