Katrina scams proliferate online 3:06 p.m., Sept. 22, 2005--Whether you are buying a used car or contributing to charities, be wary of Katrina-related scams. According to an article in Computerworld, the newspaper for technology managers, online scams are proliferating in the wake of the massive hurricane--including identity theft, Trojan horses, bogus investments, credit card fraud and water-damaged cars from Louisiana being sold online as in good condition. Officials in Missouri and Florida are investigating web sites with names such as [Katrina.help.com], [katrinafamilies.com[, [katrinadonations.com], [katrinarelieffund.com] and [katrinarelief.com].
