Video profiles chemical engineer, educator

T.W. Fraser Russell, Allan P. Colburn Professor of Chemical Engineering
2:20 p.m., March 28, 2005--T.W. Fraser Russell, Allan P. Colburn Professor of Chemical Engineering, discusses getting students to think mathematically in the new installment of Windows on The Green, profiles of UD’s named professors posted at [www.udel.edu/PR/windows/].

Russell, formerly the University’s vice provost for research, discusses the importance of the classroom as a first step for students who will someday be solving engineering problems despite uncertain information and severe time constraints. Russell, who still teaches freshman students, makes it clear that, although he has served in several high-profile University posts, he is happiest in the classroom.

Russell joins eight other named professors profiled in the continuing Windows on The Green series produced by Information Technologies-University Media Services in collaboration with the Office of Public Relations.

The Windows on The Green series marks the endowment of UD’s 100th named professorship last year. An endowed chair is one of the highest honors a faculty member can receive and one of the most important gifts a donor can make to the University.
