2 students robbed

10:19 a.m., Oct. 19, 2005--Newark Police are investigating the armed robbery of two UD students that occurred around 12:54 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19, on Amstel Avenue.

The two students were walking to their residence hall when a car pulled up to them near Amstel Avenue and Orchard Road, and a man in the passenger seat--described at 20 to 25 years old and 5 foot 6 inches to 5 foot 8 inches tall, with a tattoo on his right arm and wearing a black, short-sleeved shirt and black pants—yelled for them to come over to the vehicle. He then got out of the car, displayed a handgun and demanded property from the students. When one student said he did not have anything, he was hit in the face with the barrel of the gun and received a small injury under his left cheek. The suspect took property from the students, got back in the vehicle and drove away, eastbound on Amstel Avenue.

The students were unable to give a description of the driver of the car, which was described as a small, dark gray, four-door sedan.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Newark Police Department at (302) 366-7111, ext. 132, or Delaware Crimestoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
