Manuscript Society members visit Library

10:46 a.m., June 14, 2005--At the end of May, the Manuscript Society of America held its annual conference in Delaware, with the Hagley Museum and Library serving as the host institution. More than 60 conference attendees visited UD’s Morris Library on May 26 as a part of the conference activities.

The attendees viewed the exhibition “A Manuscript Sampler: Highlights of the University of Delaware Library Manuscript Collections” and the Mark Samuels Lasner Collection. Timothy Murray, head of Special Collections, served as the moderator of the program, and UD President David P. Roselle and Provost Daniel Rich welcomed society members to campus.

Charles E. Robinson, professor of English at UD, gave a presentation entitled "The Frankenstein Manuscript--Its Alive!" followed by a reception in the Reserve Room.

The University of Delaware Library houses world-renowned manuscript and archival collections in a variety of subject areas with particular strengths in English, Irish and American literature; history and Delawareana; art and architecture; horticulture; and the history of science and technology.

“A Manuscript Sampler” includes examples from all these collections. For more information, call (302) 831-2229 or visit [www.lib.udel.edu/ud/spec].
