Gold Ice Arena sports new graphics, scoreboard

5:03 p.m., Aug. 16, 2005--The athletes who skate at UD’s Gold Ice Arena had won so many trophies that there was no more room to display them. Coaches were keeping them in their living rooms. When the new fall season opens, all of these trophies will be back at the Gold Arena, displayed in a roomy, new case.

In addition, hockey games now will be chronicled on a new LED-technology scoreboards, and the arena wall sports graphics of a figure-skating and a hockey-playing YouDee.

Graphic designer Don McElroy in the Office of Public Relations created the three graphics of the two YouDees on skates and the University’s interlocking UD logo.

Arena Manager Jim Kaden said the rink is used by UD’s award-winning club hockey and club skating teams and by youth teams and adult precision-skating teams.
