Vote online for senior class gift this week

2:22 p.m., March 7, 2005--All seniors graduating in May and January 2006 are invited to help the senior class choose this year’s gift to the University by casting a vote and/or making a donation to the gift fund.

Voting continues through Friday, March 11, at [www.udel.edu/seniorclass].

The gift is each senior class’s way of saying thank you for helping prepare them for a bright future and to leave behind a lasting legacy. Last year, the senior class voted to plant trees along the commemorative brick pathway leading up to Old College.

This year’s choices are:

  • Naming/dedicating a practice room in the new Center for the Arts for the Class of 2005;
  • Commissioning a sculpture outside the Center for the Arts;
  • Enhancing Harrington Beach, the student recreation area behind the Perkins Student Center, by planting new grass and placing benches around the area;
  • Purchasing a new clock for an area on Ray Street or in front of the Perkins Student Center dedicated to the Class of 2005;
  • Establishing a scholarship fund for a senior or study abroad
    student; or
  • Commissioning a beautification project on the Laird Campus near the new Pencader residence hall that would include a garden, benches and/or a brick mosaic.

The Senior Class Gift Committee gathered suggestions from a survey conducted in February.

To surpass the $22,250 raised by the Class of 2004, the senior class committee has set a goal of $30,000 for this year’s class gift. The committee will be collecting pledges and donations for the next three months to reach their goal.

For more information, to make a pledge or to volunteer to work with the committee, e-mail [buddb@udel.edu] or [adhiren@udel.edu].
