UD’s Greek Games help critically ill kids

4:17 p.m., May 24, 2005--Thanks to UD’s Greek Council, children undergoing treatment for life-threatening diseases and their families will have an opportunity to stay at The Children’s House By the Sea in Ocean City, Md., for free. The project is believed to be the first of its kind in the country.

The council gave more than $4,000 raised by the Greek Games to the project, which is part of the Believe in Tomorrow National Children’s Foundation. The foundation assists 38,000 children and their families each year with pediatric support services during treatment.

In a letter to the Greek Council, program coordinator Wayne Littleton wrote, “Due to your generosity and hard work, all proceeds raised from these events will benefit the children and their families when they visit our beach retreat for a well-deserved respite.”

The Greek Games, held Saturday, April 30, were the culmination of Greek Week activities at UD when sororities and fraternities compete in such activities as relays, tug of war, punt-pass-kick and other events.
