Prof. Loessner wins Fulbright for Romania visit

G. Arno Loessner
10:58 a.m., Oct. 25, 2005--G. Arno Loessner, an associate professor in the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy and faculty fellow in the Center for International Studies, has received a Fulbright award to visit Babes-Bolyai University (BBU) in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in November.

This will be his third trip to BBU, where he has previously visited as part of an international team to advise on university management and governance.

Loessner said he was encouraged to apply for the Fulbright award, but he said he knew it would be difficult to win. “I was very pleased when I received it,” he said.

This visit will open the door to a cooperative relationship that was formally entered into this year by U.D. President David P. Roselle and Nicolae Bocs,
rector at BBU.

During his visit to Romania, Loessner will focus on teaching and advising in BBU’s masters program in public administration.

“They have a very good program [in public administration] at that university,” Loessner said. In 2004, Loessner spoke about public administration at BBU and advised the university on its program.

Loessner said he hopes his visit to Romania in November will lead to a second Fulbright-sponsored visit to continue his work there in 2006.
