E-mails advise new students about safety, conduct

3:04 p.m., Aug. 19, 2005--UD is keeping in touch with new students via e-mail to make the transition to college life as smooth as possible and to make freshmen aware of University policies, what is expected of them and safety issues.

On Monday, Aug. 22, Cynthia Cummings, associate vice president for campus life, is sending all new students e-mail welcoming them to campus and stressing the importance of understanding UD policies, with links to three informative web sites for resident students and three for those living off campus.

All new students are directed to [www.udel.edu/stuguide/05-06/code.html#alcoho] for the “Student Guide to University Policies,” including the UD “Code of Conduct” and [www.udel.edu/reslife/students/randr.html] for “Residence Hall Student Rights and Responsibilities.” In addition, resident students are directed to [www.udel.edu/reslife/students/sec_fire.html] for “Safety in the Residence Halls,” and nonresident students are directed to [www.udel.edu/PublicSafety/safetytips.htm] for Public Safety’s “Safety Tips.”
