Wilmington walk for diabetes set Oct. 8

3:37 p.m., Oct. 3, 2005--America’s Walk for Diabetes, the signature fund-raising event of the American Diabetes Association, will take place rain or shine, with check-in at 8:30 a.m., and the walk beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, in Rockford Park in Wilmington.

The walk is 10 kilometers with a less challenging course available. Participants are encouraged to form teams and use e-mail to raise money for the fight against diabetes. There are incentive gifts at different levels of fund-raising.

The mission of the American Diabetes Association is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. The funds raised will help provide patient and professional education, children’s programs and diabetes research.

For more information, call (888-DIABETES) or visit [diabetes.org/walk].
