Bus service hearings set March 14 and 15

1:57 p.m., March 11, 2005--The Delaware Transit Corp. will hold public hearings on Monday and Tuesday, March 14-15, to gather passenger feedback on proposed changes to DART First State statewide bus service.

Some proposed changes include amending running times and aligning connection schedules to meet buses and trains, as well as expanding holiday and weekend service.

Hearings will be held from 2:30-4:30 p.m., March 14, at the DelDOT Administration Building off Route 113 in Dover; from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., March 15, at WILMAPCO, on Library Avenue in Newark; and from 5:30-7:30 p.m., March 15, at the Carvel State Office Building in Wilmington.

A full list of proposals can be reviewed at most Delaware public libraries, state service centers and reception desks at DART First State offices and the DelDOT Administration Building in Dover.

Proposed changes for fixed-route service in all counties will take effect May 23; proposed changes for resort-transit service will take effect May 26.

Those who cannot attend the hearings but still wish to contribute feedback on proposed changes can do so by mailing comments to: DART First State Public Hearing, P.O. Box 1670, Wilmington, DE, 19899-1670. Comments also may be e-mailed through a link in the DART First State Web page at [www.dartfirststate.com/publichearing/sc/].

All written and e-mailed comments must be received by Wednesday, March 16.
