The cure for campus confusion

4:15 p.m., Aug. 31, 2005--A brightly colored ”Information” tent on The Green was a beacon of hope to confused new students as classes began on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Approximately 200 students stopped by each day for directions to their classrooms and with other questions and were greeted not only with answers but also campus maps, UDaily key chains, pens and lanyards, according to Sharon Dorr, director of alumni and University relations, whose staff were at the table. Upperclassmen and faculty stopped by as well to give their approval to the operation, she said.

The information center was the idea of Robert Davis, vice president of University development and alumni relations, and will probably be a welcome fixture for freshmen for years to come, Dorr said.
