UD catalog wins kudos

10:44 a.m., March 25, 2005--The University of Delaware catalog--an online resource for prospective students and their families--recently won the notice of the Western Cooperative for Educational Telecommunications (WCET), which cited it as an exemplary model in a series of workshops they presented this winter on best online practices at institutions of higher learning.

An online resource for new members of the UD student community, the UD catalog provides an accessible and easily navigable overview of UD academics, personnel and culture. The home page includes a message from University President David P. Roselle, as well as links to UD undergraduate and graduate programs, course and personnel information and general statistics related to UD.

WCET, a membership-supported organization open to providers and users of educational telecommunications, used screen shots of pages from the UD catalog and then linked them to an informational web site established to showcase exemplary samples from colleges using online technology to best advantage.

Formed in 1989, WCET is composed of members from higher education and nonprofit organizations, as well as schools and corporations, who, through innovative ideas, promote the use of educational technologies for learning.

The Boulder, Colo.-based organization promotes effective use of telecommunications technology in learning, serves as a source for telecommunications information and expertise and acts as a catalyst for creating multicampus, multistate and international alliances in educational telecommunications.
