4:43 p.m., June 8, 2005--A culinary day camp for budding chefs is being offered this summer at UD’s Vita Nova restaurant in the Trabant University Center, Monday-Friday, July 11-15.

The weeklong program, which runs from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each day, is designed for kids 10-13 and teaches the basics of kitchen safety, proper food preparation, equipment operation and cooking techniques. Nutrition guidelines also will be taught, as will recipe-reading and measurement skills.

Deborah Ellingsworth, an instructor in UD’s Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management, will lead the group, which is limited to 10 participants. The cost is $135.
