Autism walk slated for Oct. 1 in Philly

1:14 p.m., Aug. 11, 2005--Head to Philadelphia on Saturday, Oct. 1, to help support the search for a cure for autism at Walk Now--a family fun festival, an autism community resource fair and a 5K walk, all at Citizens Bank Park.

Before and after the 5K walk, families will have an opportunity to meet and learn about local autism service providers in a “kid-friendly,” “carnival-like atmosphere.” Providers of a variety of educational resources will be on hand, including: therapists, schools and recreational organizations. While parents gather information on available resources, children will be able to enjoy a moon bounce, jugglers, arts and crafts and other activities.

Registration is free, but walkers are encouraged to make a donation.
An assortment of prizes will be awarded to individuals and groups who make donations of $150 or more.

Those walking together can register their team and choose a team name and captain online. To register for the event, either individually or with a team, go to
[www.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=75835].
