Police investigate attempted sexual assault

2:19 p.m., Oct. 3, 2005--Newark Police announced Friday night that they are investigating an attempted sexual assault of a female UD student that occurred at 1 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, on North Chapel Street in Newark.

A suspect, described as a male about 18-20 years old and of average build with dark hair, encountered the victim and a struggle ensued. During the attack, he attempted to remove her clothing. The victim was able to fight off the attacker, who fled. Minor injuries were sustained by the victim.

The suspect was wearing a white-collared shirt, blue jeans and a blue baseball hat.
