Delaware AIDS Walks slated for fall

1:48 p.m., Aug. 2, 2005--Lace up your sneakers and get ready to walk, or just join in for fun, food and festivities at the Bristol Myers-Squibb Delaware AIDS Walks on, Sunday, Sept. 25, at Rockford Park in Wilmington; Sunday, Oct. 2 at Silver Lake Recreation Area in Dover; or Sunday, Oct. 9 at North Bedford Street Park in Georgetown.

The Delaware AIDS Walks raise money to combat HIV/AIDS through education, prevention, testing and case management. The walks will honor those who lost their lives to AIDS and help those living with HIV/AIDS.

There is no entry fee for the walks. Parking, food and beverages all are free of charge, and all participants can make a donation of their choice.

Family, friends or coworkers walking together are encouraged to form teams, which will be eligible to receive a $100 American Express gift certificate for every $1,000 dollars raised, a $250 gift certificate for every $2,500 raised and a $500 gift card for every $5,000 raised.

Volunteers also are needed before, during and after the walk to help make it a success. Those interested in volunteering should call (302)-736-0429.

For more information about the event and other ways to help fight AIDS, visit the Delaware AIDS Walk web site at [www.aidsdelaware.org].
