Blood Bank 5k walk/run promises fun fund-raising

11:09 a.m., July 19, 2005--When it comes to giving blood, the UD community goes all out and gives heartfelt support to campus blood drives--so much so that UD has received a Gold Award of Excellence from America’s Blood Center and has also won the Colonial Athletic Association’s “Have a Heart” Blood Challenge annually since its inception three years ago.

Now the Blood Bank of Delmarva is asking for a different kind of support--inviting all those who have given or received blood or just want to help out, to participate in its “Together for Life” 5K walk/run. The event will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m., with the walk/run beginning at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, July 23, at Kahunaville, 550 South Madison St., on Wilmington’s Riverfront.

Preregistration is $16 by July 20 and $20 the day of the race, with all proceeds benefiting the Blood Bank of Delaware. The event will be followed by a party on the deck at Kahunaville.

To register, go to [www.races2run.com] or call (302) 737-8405, extension 796.
