Weekend event honors Iraq War soldiers

4:35 p.m., July 16, 2004--A two-day event designed to raise money and moral support for Iraqi soldiers will take place from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 24, and Sunday, July 25, at Mike’s Famous Harley-Davidson in Wilmington.

The free fund- and friend-raising event will feature police motorcycle rodeo performances, K-9 unit displays, live entertainment by the band Lock & Load, and a hog roast with assorted summer barbecue specialties on Sunday afternoon.

All donations are welcome, but guests are particularly encouraged to donate cans of powdered Gatorade and cash for combat boot purchases. Mike’s Famous will handle shipments of donated goods and will match monetary donations collected throughout the two-day event.

For more information, call Christine Kubik, marketing director of Mike’s Famous, at 658-8800, extension 217, or visit [www.mikesfaumous.com].
