Blue Hen merchandise at Cracker Barrel

11:35 a.m., Sept. 14, 2004--Blue Hen mania is spreading. Now fans, friends and alumni of the University of Delaware can buy selected items blue and gold sportswear at area Cracker Barrel Old Country Store locations.

The Tennessee-based company, which operates 502 company-owned locations in 41 states, offers collegiate merchandise from more than 70 major universities, including the University of Delaware.

Eventually, the UD logo will appear on 24 items in the store, including chenille letter, open-bottom fleece pullovers, three-quarter raglan-sleeve tackle-twill jerseys, embroidered block-letter denim shirts and camp shirts, as well as chest-striped sweatshirts with embroidery in three locations.

“There is a great selection for Fightin’ Blue Hen fans of all ages. Some of these items are made exclusively for Cracker Barrel,” Chris Tomasso, vice president of marketing at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, said. “Our guests have come to expect unique items from us. This collegiate apparel gives folks another reason to stop at Cracker Barrel.”

Modeled after a 1900-era country store, Cracker Barrel locations feature old photographs, antiques and memorabilia and offer more than 2,700 gift items, including accessories for the home, old-fashioned candies, books on audio, nostalgic items and children’s games and puzzles. Store hours are 6 a.m.-10 p.m., Sundays through Thursdays, and 6 a.m.-11 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays.
