CHEP posts first issue of Directions

3:32 p.m., Aug. 4, 2004--Directions—“news and events from the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy (CHEP)”—has just hit e-newsstands.

Visit [chico.nss.udel.edu/deptnews/deptnews.html?7301] to read the latest news and information about and for CHEP students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators and the community.

The first edition includes stories about a CHEP graduate student becoming the youngest Newark city council member ever; CHEP graduate scholarships for VISTA volunteers; an interview with Leland Ware, Louis L. Redding Chair for the Study of Law and Public Policy, on a symposium held to mark the 50th anniversary of Brown vs. Board of Education; the partnership between CHEP, Home for Life, an organization that builds homes for persons with cognitive disabilities, and The Arc of Delaware; Vita Nova, operated by hotel, restaurant and institutional management students, receiving Delaware Today’s 2004 Best of Delaware Award for best lunch buffet, and more.

There are sections on upcoming events, reports issued by CHEP departments, articles about the accomplishments of CHEP’s people and stories about local, county and state events that affect the University and CHEP.
