Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, was quoted in a Feb. 9 Wall Street Journal story concerning efforts by corporations to reclaim bad loans to former executives. Elson also was quoted Feb. 9 in a Washington Post story on a loan repayment by the chief executive officer of Radio One and in a Financial Times story about problems at Hewlett-Packard. He was quoted Feb. 8 in a USA Today story about issues surrounding pre-merger guidance. Ralph Begleiter, Edward and Elizabeth Goodman Rosenberg Professor of Communication and Distinguished Journalist in Residence, was quoted in a Feb. 9 News Journal story about the truce declared by Israel and the Palestinians. "The safest thing to do in the Middle East is to predict failure, Begleiter said. "There's going to be bad news somewhere along the line. But, it's the first time in four years that these guys have agreed not to attack one another. Does it mean peace in the Middle East? Absolutely not. But is there a new optimism? Yes. It's the beginning of something very important and could lead to much more substantive agreements in the future." Barbara Emery of the UD Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship was cited for her work in economic education in the state in a Feb. 9 News Journal story. Carol Hoffecker, Richards Professor Emerita of History, was quoted in a Feb. 8 News Journal story on the death of former Delaware Gov. Elbert N. Carvel. James R. Soles, Alumni Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Political Science and International Relations, was quoted in an Associated Press story on the death of the former governor.
