Student wins Segway 3:01 p.m., Jan. 20, 2005--UD sophomore Steve Grieco recently won a Segway Human Transporter in a promotion by Wilmington Trust designed to attract college students around the state to the banks checking accounts. During the fall, Wilmington Trust ran a campaign highlighting two checking account options to give students a cost-effective way to help them manage their money. In addition to the Segway won by Grieco, other giveaways during the promotion included nine Apple iPods and gift certificates to local merchants. During the promotion, we opened a significant number of new checking accounts and successfully elevated our profile on college campuses, Rebecca DePorte, senior vice president of personal financial services for Wilmington Trust, said. Segways are becoming an increasingly popular form of transportation on many college campuses around the country, DePorte said. The Segway awarded by Wilmington Trust was purchased from Segway of Delmarva, a division of Shorts Marine. To learn how to subscribe to UDaily, click here. |
