UD professor honored by New Jersey Institute of Technology

10:25 a.m., Aug. 14, 2003--John Pelesko, assistant professor of mathematics at UD, has been honored by the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) as one of the “Outstanding Alumni in the College of Science and Liberal Arts.”

Pelesko was nominated by Daljit Ahluwhalia, the current chair of the mathematics department at NJIT, and a college committee chose Pelesko as one of the recipients.

After finishing his bachelor’s degree at the University of Massachusetts, Pelesko earned his doctorate in mathematical sciences from NJIT. Before coming to UD in the fall of 2002, Pelesko taught at the California Institute of Technology and at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Pelesko’s research efforts on micro and nanoscale systems recently received funding from the University of Delaware Research Foundation (UDRF) and the National Science Foundation. Pelesko also is supervising four undergraduate students working on summer research projects.
