Human Resources to help students apply online for parking permits Sept. 2-3.

2:45 p.m., Aug. 28, 2003--UD’s Office of Human Resources is joining forces with Parking Services to help students purchase parking permits online this fall.

Human Resources staff will be available from 8 a.m-5 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 2-3, to assist students at its computer kiosk in the lobby of the 413 Academy St. location it shares with Parking Services. The computer training room at Human Resources also will be open to serve up to six students at a time in applying for parking permits online at [www.udel.edu/permits].

Parking Services will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday and Monday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, and will be open 8 a.m.- 7 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 2-4, and from 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday through Thursday, Sept. 8-11, and from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Fridays, Sept. 5 and Sept. 12.

Students should bring their University ID or a photo ID, as well as registration documents for vehicles being registered. Students using the web site can pay online by credit card, but those who prefer to pay by cash or check must wait to see a Parking Services representative.

Making the additional computer resources available to students during this busy time is the result of a collaboration between Richie Holland, manager of human resources, and Denise Tuttle, administrative assistant in Public Safety.

“We hope to serve students better and to provide more support to students who might want to use the web to purchase a permit but might need a little help in doing so,” Holland said. “This is a great step in cross-unit service, and it will help get Human Resources personnel involved with student services beyond payroll issues.”

According to Tuttle, since it began taking requests for parking permits in the spring of 2002, UD e-Park has helped to improve customer service through its online application process.

Jenni Sparks, coordinator in Public Safety, said, “The web process has reduced our lines and also has allowed students and staff to purchase parking at their convenience. The web site is available year-round, and to date we have processed over 6,000 online permit requests.”

Employee permits are sent through campus mail and student permits can be picked up at the Perkins Parking Garage office, 413 Academy Street, during attended hours from 6:30-1:30 a.m.- Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m.- 1-30 a.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Students who are carpooling or who wish to purchase a permit for less than one month must register in person at Parking Services.
