Charles Elson, Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair and director of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, is quoted in a Nov. 25 Wall Street Journal story concerning financial packages given to corporate executives who have been dismissed for breaking ethics rules. "The shareholder should not have to pay for a fired executive's poor conduct," Elson told the newspaper. Elson is quoted, as well, in a Nov. 25 Chicago Tribune story about the firing of Mike Sears, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Boeing, after controversial dealings with the U.S. Air Force. Elson said the swift firing "is a sign of the times. We are in a new climate, and these sorts of improper actions are taken quite seriously." ALUMNI Kevin T. Kramer, who earned a bachelor's degree in economics, political science and American history from the University of Delaware, has been promoted to partnership with the firm Pillsbury Winthrop LLP.
