Black History Month Dinner Celebrate Black History Month by indulging in a soulful dinner at all residential dining halls on campus. The menu will include: Homemade Chicken and Flat Dumpling Stew, Savory BBQ Spare Ribs, Vegetarian Hoppin Johns, Hush Puppies, Collard Greens, Steamed Corn on the Cob, Shrimp Po Boy Sandwich, Mac and Cheese, Old Fashion Potato Salad, Sweet Potato Pie, and more.

Black History Month Extravaganza
Multiple NAACP Image Award winner, Hill Harper, has won admirers for his portrayal of "Dr. Sheldon Hawkes" on the hit drama series CSI: New York. Harper's passion for his craft is surpassed only by his dedication to inspire America's youth. Harper is a spokesman and volunteer for Big Brothers, Big Sisters. As a strong and articulate voice for hope, education, and commitment, his work to improve America’s social climate for youth is steadfast. He is the New York Times bestselling author of Letters to a Young Brother and Letters to a Young Sister, and his most recent book is titled The Conversation. Harper graduated magna cum laude from Brown University. He also graduated with a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University. Harper’s talk will reveal how personal achievement, combined with helping others accomplish their goals, influences success.

Third Annual Black Leadership Summit: The REACH Project The Center for Black Culture will take a delegation of student leaders to the third Annual Black Leadership Summit. The summit will examine models of engaged leadership, and will also explore service-learning, student activism, mentoring, and family involvement. Louis L. Redding Lecture
featuring Linda Ammons
Linda Ammons is the Associate Provost and Dean at the Widener University School of Law. Ammons is the first woman and the first African American to lead Widener University School of Law, and one of only seven African American females in the nation serving as dean of a law school. Her talk is entitled, “As the World Turns: Not the Soap Opera”.

Black Faces in White Places: 10 Game Changing Strategies to Achieve Success and Find Greatness Randal Pinkett is the first African American winner of Donald Trump’s reality show, The Apprentice, and CEO of BCT Partners, a multi-million dollar consulting firm. His most recent book, Black Faces in White Places is about - the game - the competitive world in which we all live and work, and the inevitable issues of race in the workplace and in society. In his talk, Pinkett will examine shattering the old "glass ceiling," and the four dimensions of the contemporary black experience: identity, society, meritocracy, and opportunity.

August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble
The August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble brings the multicultural dance community together while keeping the black dance tradition at the forefront of the region’s dance community. Located in Pittsburgh, PA, the August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble was founded in 2009 by Greer Reed-Jones who serves as the artistic director. As a former member of the internationally acclaimed Ailey II and the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Reed-Jones has catapulted this group as one of the premier contemporary dance companies in the United States.
