The University of Delaware's largest annual day of giving and gratitude is Wednesday, May 1! Since 2018, I Heart UD Giving Day has generated more than $4.8 million for hundreds of UD causes and programs. For this year’s event, UD students, faculty, staff and alumni are promoting more than 180 fundraising projects, ensuring there are opportunities for every Blue Hen to support their passions.

“Blue Hens make things happen, and I Heart UD Giving Day is a great example of that spirit,” said Jim Dicker, vice president of Development and Alumni Relations. “Our project leaders do an incredible job of communicating the importance of their fundraising initiatives, and our alumni, friends, parents and campus community come together to answer the call.”

This year, opportunities for giving are more diverse than ever. From life-changing scholarships, cutting-edge research, community service and outreach, to athletics and registered student organizations, Blue Hens have the chance to support the causes that matter most to them. To amplify the impact of our community’s support, generous donors have created dozens of challenges and matching gift opportunities. 

“It’s not about the size of any one gift — it’s about our community coming together and showing the world what’s possible when passion connects with purpose,” Dicker said. “A gift of any size can inspire others, and that’s when really great things become possible.” 

Students, faculty and staff on the Newark campus are invited to celebrate UD on The Green from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with food, prizes and lawn games, plus a special donor experience.
