Charles Dhong, assistant professor of materials science and biomedical engineering, and postdoctoral researcher Abigail Nolin demonstrate a prototype tactile device designed to bring a sense of touch to digital screens. The technology aims to recreate physical sensations such as texture, opening possibilities for more immersive digital experiences and new accessibility tools.

$The Delaware Teachers Institute (DTI), a partnership between UD and New Castle County school districts, helps teachers develop innovative curriculum units that use students’ interests as a bridge to academic achievement. One DTI seminar this year focused on how to use sports to teach concepts in various subject areas.$

Sports inspire learning

The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellows Program’s 2026 Class of Fellows includes 22 University of Delaware students and alumni — a record number of recipients for a single year. The highly competitive fellowship supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing research-based master’s or doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and STEM education.
