11:20 a.m., Sept. 15, 2015--The University of Delaware Library is offering several levels of RefWorks workshops during the fall semester. 

“Introduction to RefWorks” is an introductory workshop that covers setting up an account, exporting citations from research databases, managing citations, creating bibliographies and more.

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

“RefWorks: Beyond the Basics” is for those who have taken “Introduction to RefWorks.” It provides additional information about exporting references from research databases and organizing references and includes using the Write-N-Cite feature to insert in-text citations, as well as editing in-text citations.

“RefWorks Complete” blends an overview of the basic and advanced functions of RefWorks in one session. Topics include exporting references from journal databases, creating folders, organizing and editing references, uploading full-text articles and inserting footnotes or in-text citations.

An additional subject-specific RefWorks workshop will be offered for students, faculty and staff involved in health science related fields. 

“RefWorks for the Health Sciences” will cover both the basic and the advanced functions of RefWorks, with a focus on importing citations from PubMed and other health science specific databases. The session also covers creating and sharing folders and using Write-N-Cite for APA and AMA citations.

“Introduction to RefWorks” will be offered on:

  • Thursday, Sept. 24, 2-3:15 p.m., in the Library Instruction Room (116A) on the first floor of the Morris Library. Presenter will be Dianna McKellar, librarian, Reference and Instructional Services Department.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 28, 10-11:30 a.m., in the Library Instruction Room. McKellar will be the presenter.

“RefWorks: Beyond the Basics” will be offered on:

  • Thursday, Oct. 1, 2-3:15 p.m., in the Library Instruction Room. Presenter will be Rebecca Knight, associate librarian, Reference and Instructional Services Department.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 4, 10-11:30 a.m., in the Library Instruction Room. Presenter will be William Simpson, associate librarian, Reference and Instructional Services Department.

“RefWorks: Complete” will be offered on:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 6, 6-7:30 p.m., in the Library Instruction Room. Knight will be the presenter.

“RefWorks for the Health Sciences” will be offered on:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 13, 6-8 p.m., in the Library Instruction Room. Presenter will be Sarah Katz, senior assistant librarian, Reference and Instructional Services Department.

These workshops are available at no charge and are open to University of Delaware faculty, staff and students. Seating is limited and registration is required. Online registration is available.
